IN ALL MY RP YEARS I'VE NEVER CHALLENGED A HOLD SOMEONE MADE BEFORE ME. Actually, I don't think I've ever been challenged after making the primary hold, but if I was, it must not have panned out. It's really nerve wracking, I don't know how people do it regularly.

So, PB suggestions? I need a PB for Neville Longbottom, age 21. He's an alternate timeline Neville, so there is another Neville already in play, PB'd by Daniel Cudmore. Originally I was aiming for a blonder PB, but with Daniel being dark-haired it won't work to have a dark-haired Neville and a blonde-haired Neville, at least to me. I'd like my Neville to look different, not just because even the dopple characters need different PBs, but because his life was very distinctly different. Someone thinner, serious and nervous looking, but with the potential to not be either in some icons, would be good.

Also, Megan. NOW YOU REALLY NEED TO DO GINNY.

But! Had to reappear for a moment to point out that the first-ever Harry/Scorpius Last Drabble Writer Standing competition at harryscorp100 just started. Yes, I have a soft spot for Harry/Scorpius, although no, I'm not in this competition. Just an interested observer. I only recently figured out a.) what LDWS things are, and b.) how they work, so now I want everyone to do them. :)

So, there are 15 writers in it, and each week they get a prompt, and then they write a drabble (defined here as under 500 words or so, I think or, in any case, not 100 on the dot), send it in, and they are all posted anonymously mid-week. Then readers vote for their favourite, reveals happen on Sunday, and a new weekly round begins, with one less person. Fifteen weeks later, we have a winner. Fun, yes?

Maybe I'm just addicted to reality TV shows wherein voting for favourites occurs? Hm.

Anyway, I point out this week's Week One drabbles because they are all super good. The first prompt was 'Age Disparity,' so all entries have something to do with the age difference. Scorpius is underage in some but not in others, so read the warnings and go with whatever floats your boat. I had a great time over coffee the other day reading through them and trying to decide on a favourite. No, I'm not always in favour of competitive stuff in fandom, and yeah, it sucks that someone has to be eliminated every week, but hopefully all the participants are okay with that and know not to take it personally. Anyway, if it appeals to you, go have a read through over there and vote!

In other news, I just read through a super awesome story for snupin_santa this morning that made me fall in love with Snupin all over again. Swoon!

Author's notes: I'm sorry. Where was I supposed to go with this pairing? I mean, really? I think writing Morfin Gaunt in a fluffy romance would be far more terrifying than having him in a darker fic. Right? Right? :P

I went and saw a nutritionist on Monday and since I was sort of having to stop and think today, I figured I'd write down everything she told me so I am less likely to forget. And since I have the benefit of free nutritional advice, I figured I'd share with y'all what she said to me.

Note: I know some of you are uncomfortable with "weight loss" posts, but this is only tangentially about weight loss. Mostly it's just a way for the hubby and I to get and STAY healthy.

For those who wonder how I ate before and how this differs: I ate once a day at dinner. I'd have maybe 800-1000 calories per day, all at once. Because I really don't like to eat at other times. So I'm eating "more" now, but I'm spacing it out and making healthier choices.

Ooh, I like my assignment for Yuletide lots. I thought I might get this one last year; it's something I've loved for a long time and am thrilled to have the motivation to write for it.

Dear Yuletide Santa/Kringle/Hanukkah Fairy/etc.:

Everything I had to say about the specific fandoms, I think I covered in my request. If you'd like to hear more details about my fic likes in general:

Yes, I love slash. I discovered I liked m/m slash at the same time I dove headfirst into fanfiction; it was not a coincidence. Three of these four fandoms that I chose for Yuletide, I chose because I cherish the slashy possibilities of the two main characters. Having said that, I also like friendship fic, pre-slash hints, femslash, humor, crack (I adore well-done crack), Alternate Realities... I love NC-17 smut, but I won't be sad if the fic chooses not to go there, not if it doesn't feel right to you.

Please don't feel you have to write an epic. Short fic is often the most rewarding. I eat up even drabbles. Write me 5 200-word drabbles to make the word count minimum; I'll still go ape.

Okay so. I have written, I think, one RPF. EVER. And that was when the Giants won the Superbowl and I was sort of high on everything to do with football and Eli Manning and yay Giants won! I'm a Cowboys fan at heart, but I'll take ANYONE over the Patriots and Eli Manning is sort of my personal favorite underdog and.... and that has nothing to do with anything today. Except to say, I never ever thought I'd be in this position again.

All right, now, y'all know that I'm kinda half-obsessed with Star Trek Reboot fandom, right? And the main reason for that is Karl Urban's Bones (because he is awesome), and even though he's nothing like DeForest Kelley, I kinda like that because it makes the character his own. I mean, no one's topping TOS Bones for sheer awesomeness, but Karl Urban is... Well. I kinda have the hots for him in a way that may not be entirely legal.

And because of this, I started thinking about the day the cast met him and how that went and (because every single guy but John Cho on that cast is "gay in my head") this is what happened.

So I finally got around to seeing Transformers...

I am so behind on rpwrimo that I'm half-tempted to say the thousands of words of backstory I've written for applications lately should count. In my RP world, it does, but that's not the challenge I signed on to do. So, provided the munchkin and my sick blahness cooperates, I SHALL BE A TAG FIEND MOMENTARILY.

I finally sat down to look at steamtrek and it is awesome but soooo overwhelming to me. My ability to get myself involved in huge, original games (rather than huge fandom games) is kind of historically mediocre, so I shouldn't even have looked.

And aaaaaugh, I hate having to throw out a twelve page app (the four page one wasn't a finished app, so I'm not that sad about it) because I was way too into a unique concept that isn't likely to fit anywhere else and now isn't going to fit where I thought it would either. But, honestly, I am not the type to feel comfortable rocking the boat when I'm an applicant who is not in the game and the other applicant (with the concept that mine won't work with) is in game, so I just need to chalk it up to not finishing the app days sooner and things not working how I'd imagined. Still, I feel mopey and I know I'm whiny and I want to say STFU to myself.
