Luna watched her watch the other girl for weeks. Hermione's eyes would skip across the Great Hall every morning, noon and night, with a sort of excitement in them that Luna had never seen before. She didn't mind. Sometimes her eyes would cheat, too. Sometimes she couldn't help but stare at hair so red or eyes so green. Hermione said it made Harry nervous, when she stared like that, but he only ever grinned and asked how she was. Ginny, though, would laugh when Luna stared, like they'd shared a private joke, and sometimes she looked at Luna the way Hermione looked at Pansy.

Pansy, in spite of Luna's original decision that her eyes were too bright and too dark to see anything, saw everything. She informed Luna and others daily of Luna's activities, but only if there was a sizeable audience gathered. Luna didn't see what was so interesting about her tripping over a womblat (invisible, of course, but still tricksy) in the Great Hall, or her dumping cat litter in Ron Weasley's hands.

Usually, though, Pansy's observations focused on Luna in relation to Hermione. This didn't bother Luna in the slightest, and she was actually quite pleased with the pink it would put in Hermione's cheeks. Hermione always pretended not to hear, and would sometimes pretend not to see, too. But Luna always saw the glances at meals.

Luna told her what she knew one night, as she wrote lines of poetry across her back. Hermione's muscles tensed and the quill skipped across the sudden rigidity, interrupting the smooth rhythms and rhymes. Luna slid her hand down Hermione's lower back, steadying her as she straddled her thighs and attempted to pick up the lost words.

"I think she wants you, too."

The silence was so loud it hurt, and Luna wondered if she'd been wrong. She frowned and rubbed her nose with the back of her hand and somehow there was ink on her cheek, just in her line of vision. She was having trouble looking away from the dark smudge, and it was making her cross-eyed. Hermione moved under her fingers slowly, twisting her head to look over her shoulder at Luna. Luna frowned at the distortion of her words, watching the ink on the last few letters leak away from the word, rolling across Hermione's skin as she spoke.

"… want to be with you, Luna."

Luna looked up at her slowly, blinking and forgetting about the ink as she met Hermione's worried gaze.

"I know."

There was a slight flush to her cheeks, and she looked almost relieved. Luna dipped the quill's point into the inkpot that was precariously balanced on Hermione's bum before lowering it to her skin again.

"But her eyes are so lovely."

Hermione was silent and Luna was surprised at what she had written.

Luna wasn't sure why she stopped by that particular bathroom. Luna, after all, only used Myrtle's bathroom when she could help it. She thought it was nice to have company, even if that company tended to swear at her. It didn't bother Luna. She understood. Sometimes she'd get a feeling in her stomach that looked like Myrtle sobbing. Sometimes the day was gray.

She wondered if it was wrong to watch from the doorway, but she couldn't get her feet to work, so she didn't think she'd be able to leave.

Pansy had Hermione pinned to the wall, her fingers digging into Hermione's wrists and her knee shoved between Hermione's legs. Hermione squirmed underneath her, but Luna knew. She knew the dark bright eyes had enchanted her and would lead her away. She watched as Pansy kissed her, devouring her and releasing one of her wrists to slip a hand between them. Pansy was angry, Luna knew. Pansy was mad that Hermione's pink cheeks and subtle glances had led her here. Luna understood that, too.

Hermione's wrist looked red in the light and that's all that Luna could think about as she watched Hermione drop her hand, tangling her fingers in Pansy's perfect hair. The red was so violent, so angry, so thirsty and desperate. It was nothing like the coy liveliness of Ginny's red, or the frustrated longing of Ron's red. This red was something stronger.

Hermione made a sound unrelated to Pansy's mouth on her neck and it took several minutes for Luna to realise she was being addressed.

Hermione's eyes were wide and brown and she squirmed differently against Pansy now, genuinely fighting her off. It was so disruptive, so frightened, so frantic, and the line of the story skipped off of the tension, leaving Luna wondering what would have happened next. It was a horrible thing to be denied an ending, and as Pansy pulled away to glare at her, the red disappeared behind Hermione's back.

"Why did you stop? Was it because I showed up? You should pretend I'm not here."

Pansy gawked at her as if she'd never seen her before. Pansy often did that.

"Why don't you leave, instead? Make everyone happy?"

Hermione's face was almost as red as Ron's tended to get, and Luna shook her head.

"It won't make me happy. I want to see how it ends."

Pansy's eyes narrowed, but she could apparently find nothing to say to that, and then Hermione was talking and Luna wouldn't have noticed if Pansy ever found a response.

"I'm so sorry, Luna. I… I don't know what happened. It just…"

Luna shook her head and her feet led her across the tile somehow. It was dry, not like Myrtle's bathroom, and it felt strange under her toes. She'd forgotten her shoes in the courtyard this morning, she realised.

Pansy had a strange way of breathing, like she was preparing an insult in every breath and then sucking it back in. Luna wished she'd let it out. It couldn't be healthy to keep that all bottled up. She thought maybe that's what this was about. Maybe kissing Hermione helped her breathe. Luna didn't understand that at all. Kissing Hermione always made her lose her breath, not gain it. It was scientific curiosity, really, that made her press her lips against Pansy's. Pansy's mouth was soft and firm and pink and red at once, and Luna kissed her wet and warm, trying to open her up, trying to let out the anger bubbling on the inside.

Pansy was hard against her, too, and she felt almost scared, almost smug. Luna couldn't imagine why. Kissing wasn't supposed to be scary. There was a noise to her left and Luna pulled away in interest, looking to Hermione with wide, surprised eyes. Pansy raised a hand to her mouth tentatively, as if she were worried at what she'd let out.

But Luna's eyes were now fixed on Hermione, who looked simultaneously horrified and pleased, her cheeks a darker shade of pink than usual, and her eyes almost as bright as Pansy's. Luna's fingers were drawn to the heat in the pink of her cheeks, and she couldn't keep herself from brushing Hermione's face with her fingertips.

Hermione closed her eyes and Luna wondered what she was afraid of seeing.

Luna liked to see everything. Hermione never understood why Luna kept her eyes open when they kissed, but Hermione didn't know how beautiful her face was up close, couldn't know about the shades of the colours that Luna never saw anywhere else, didn't know about the redpinkorangepeach of her cheeks and the freckles on her nose, didn't know about the colours hidden in the brown of her irises when her eyes would open in surprise.

Luna kissed her softly, differently than she kissed Pansy, but still trying to draw something out, her fingers burning on Hermione's cheek. Hermione's eyes opened and Luna marveled at the life in her eyelashes, but Hermione didn't look surprised this time. She met Luna's gaze, and there was something apologetic and grateful in her look that made Luna smile against her mouth.

She knew the cold, slender fingers slipping into the waistband of her skirt were Pansy's without looking. Luna had expected it, had known it would come to this from Hermione's first glance across the Great Hall.

Hermione's eyes were every colour Luna had ever liked at once, and they hid nothing, but told her everything about the future. She wanted to tell Professor Trewlaney sometimes that she would know more from Hermione Granger's eyes than she'd ever learn from tea leaves. But they were hers to learn from, and Luna didn't want to share this secret.

Her cheek was too hot for Luna's fingers and they skittered away, sliding down her throat and tracing the fabric of her blouse, carefully undoing buttons as Pansy's fingers slid into her knickers. Luna squeezed her thighs together as Pansy's fingers hit wet, hot cotton and brushed up against her.

She tilted her head away from Hermione, breaking the kiss as she brushed the satin of her bra and Pansy's fingers worked their way inside.

She found Pansy's mouth and Hermione's fingers grappled with the hem of Luna's skirt as she moaned against her ear. Luna caught her fingers, pulling them away, toward Pansy, because it was only fair, and together their hands slid up Pansy's thigh, fingers intertwined as they snuck beneath her skirt.

Pansy moaned as they found their way past the slim lace that must have been very uncomfortable. Luna could understand the bottled anger suddenly, and released Hermione's fingers to tug the knickers down off of Pansy's hips.

The thin lace fell around slim ankles and Luna's fingers wandered back to join Hermione's in the tight wet heat of Pansy as Pansy's slender, nimble fingers slipped and slid inside of Luna, making her squirm. She tightened her thighs around Pansy's hand again, Hermione's breast soft and heavy and warm in her hand. She wondered what Pansy's skin tasted like, if it was anything like the clean, crisp taste of Hermione, and her mouth wandered away from Pansy's red lips, trailing a faint wash of colour down Pansy's throat as Hermione nibbled on Luna's ear.

Pansy's thumb made a sudden movement of its own accord in the wet, warm cotton of Luna's knickers, and she felt it everywhere at once, her skin knowing and tingling and her eyes shutting tight because she could hardly bear to see the colours these sensations felt like.

She opened her eyes and Pansy was flushed and jerking her hand out of Luna's skirt to grip the wall behind her as Hermione and Luna continued, their wicked fingers reaching for something deep inside and soon Pansy was tightening around them, trying to keep them in and shaking against Luna's lips as her pulse jumped under Luna's tongue. Luna wanted to stay, wanted to feel the warm, tight intimacy of this forever, but it was time to let it go, and her fingers slipped out with Hermione's.

Dark, shiny bright eyes focused on Hermione now and Luna could understand why, her thumb absently stroking the too-smooth satin and marveling at the hard, unexpected nub it concealed.

Pansy stepped gracefully out of the thin lace binding her ankles, shoving Hermione back against the wall and out of Luna's touch and lowering herself even more gracefully to her knees. Hermione made a small sound at this, her brown eyes open wide and colourful, her thick wild hair everywhere at once.

Luna always marveled at that hair, always wanted to curl her fingers in it and not let go, laughed when it tickled her nose and brushed against bare breasts.

It looked different, splayed out against the bathroom wall as Pansy kneeled before her and pushed up her skirt. She wondered if it was the comparison, if it was the dark, sleek hair making Hermione's look so strange, so out of place, but Luna thought it was even more beautiful now than it ever had been.

Hermione made a noise that sounded distinctly like her name as the pink of Pansy's tongue disappeared in Hermione's secret curls, the ones that never caught her fingers, that were always too wet to be as wild as the hair on her head. Luna smiled and moved closer, leaning against the wall beside her and tracing the hot skin of her cheek with wet fingers.

Brown, colourful eyes focused on her and Hermione kissed her, her eyes wide open.
